Kæri ritstjóri Sólskins.
Eg þakka þér fyrir litla Sólskinsblaðið, sem mér þykir svo vænt um. Mér þykir gaman að vísinum um Sólskinsbörnin og er oft að syngja þær við tvær lítlar systur sem eg á; önnur er tveggja ára hin fjögra. – Eg ætla að ganga á skólann í sumar og er byrjuð á honum. Það eru þrjú ár í sumar síðan eg kom heiman frá Íslandi, og eg man eftir mörgu þar. Eg ætla að senda þér fallega vísu, hún er úr “Unga Íslandi”

Dear editor of Sólskin.
Thank you for the little Sólskin paper, which I love so much. I enjoy the verses about the Sunshine children and often sing them with two little sisters that I have; one is two years old and the other four. – I’m going to school this summer and have started. It has been three years this summer since I came here from Iceland, and I remember many things there. I would like to send you a beautiful verse, it’s from “Unga Íslandi:”
