Kæri ritstjóri Sólskins:–
Eg hefi altaf lesið Sólskinið síðan það byrjaði að koma út. Og altaf þykir mér vænna og vænna um það, og gleymi aldrei deginum sem það kemur. Og núna seinast þótti mér gott að fá verkefni, þegar eg las um Betel og gömlu Sólskinsbörnin, sem þar eiga heima. Eg þekki þau öll, og þar er amma mín. Eg kem þangað oft og hefi gaman af því; öllum líður þar vel.
Eg hljóp út og fór að taka samskot í Sólskinssjóð gamla fólksins. Mér gekk furðu vel, og eg þakka öllum sem gáfu, og sendi eg þér listann með nöfnunum og upphæðinni.
Með beztu óskum til þín og allra Sólskinsbarnanna.

Dear editor of Sólskin:–
I have always read Sólskin since it started coming out. And I always love it more and more, and never forget the day it arrives. And now the last time, I felt good about getting a task, when I read about Betel and the elder Sunshine children who live there. I know them all, and my grandmother is there. I go there often and enjoy it; everyone feels good there.
I ran out and started to take contributions for the Sólskin-fund for the elderly. I did surprisingly well, and I thank all who gave, and I am sending you the list with the names and the amounts.
