Kæri ritstjóri Sólskins:–
Mig hefir altaf langað til að senda Sólskini eitthvað, en eg er svoddan klaufi að skrifa íslenzku að eg treysti mér ekki til þess að skrifa mikið, svo eg skrifa bara nokkrar línur með centunum, sem eg sendi í Sólskinssjóð gamla fólksins, og svo sendir Alma systir mín annað eins. Það sem Alma sendir fékk hún sem verðlaun fyrir að hlaupa á skemtisamkomu, og hún segist ætla að hlaupa fyrir gamla fólkið á hverju ári.
Með beztu óskum til ritstjóra Sólskins og allra Sólskinsbarnanna.

Dear editor of Sólskin:–
I have always wanted to send something to Sólskin, but I am so clumsy writing in Icelandic that I don’t trust myself to write much, so I only write a few lines with the cents, which I am sending to the Sólskin-fund for the elderly, and then my sister Alma sends some as well. That which Alma sends she got as a reward for running at a festival, and she said she would like to run for the elderly every year.
