Heiðraði ristjóri Sólskins.

Hjartans þökk fyrir Sólskinsblaðið, sem flytur okkur börnunum skemtilegar sögur, bréf og kvæði, og um leið hvetur ykkur til þess sem fagurt er, og eitt af því er sannarlega hugmyndin að safna í Sólskinssjóð gamalmennanna. Það er svo gaman fyrir ungu Sólskinsbörnin að gleðja þau gömlu. Mamma hefir sagt okkur að gamla fólkið verði tvisvar börn. Eg sendi með þessum línum 50 cent í Sólskinssjóð gömlu barnanna, en finn þó til þess hve lítið þetta er. Elzta systir mín, Mrs. Gíslason, er flutt hingað norður til okkar, hennar börn eru fjögur og ætla þau öll að senda í sjóðinn til gömlu barnanna nú um leið og eg. Hjartans óskir til gamalmennanna og þakklæti til ritstjóra Sólskins. Með virðing.

Honourable editor of Sólskin.

Deepest gratitude for the Sólskin paper, which brings us children fun stories, letters and poems, and at the same time inspires you to that which is beautiful, and truly one such thing is the idea of collecting for the Sólskin-fund for the elderly people. It’s so enjoyable for the young Sunshine children to make the elderly happy. Mom has told us that elderly people become children for the second time. I am sending with these lines 50 cents for the Sólskin-fund for the elderly children, even though I still know how small it is. My eldest sister, Mrs. Gíslason, has moved here to the north with us, her children are four in number and they all would like to donate to the fund for the elderly children now like me. Heartfelt wishes to the elderly people and thanks to the editor of Sólskin. Respectfully.
