Theme and Theme Options
Theme and Theme Options can be adjusted under the “Appearance” tab in Pressbooks.
Theme
By default, McLuhan is the theme for all new books. To change this in Pressbooks, go to the Appearance tab and select “Themes.” Then, activate the theme you want.
- The recommended theme for open textbooks published by University of Manitoba Libraries is Clarke.
Theme Options
Global Options
- Part and Chapter Numbers: Turn off if numbers were manually added to parts and chapters.
Web Options
- Paragraph Separation: Indent paragraphs
- Display Part title on each chapter: Yes
- Collapse sections: Turn on if chapters are very long and would otherwise be difficult to navigate.
PDF Options
- Body Font Size: 11pt
- Footnote Font Size: 10pt
- Body Line Height: 1.3em
- Page size: US Letter
- Outside Margin: 1.75in
- Inside Margin: 1.75in
- Top Margin: 1.75in
- Bottom Margin: 1.5in
- Paragraph Separation: Indent paragraphs
- Section openings: Right page section openings (for print PDF)
- Crop Marks: Turn off
- Front Matter Left Page: Blank
- Front Matter Right Page: Blank
- Introduction Right Page: Book Title
- Introduction Left Page: Introduction Title
- Part Left Page: Book Title
- Part Right Page: Part Title
- Chapter Left Page: Book Title
