Description: Safety is a part of the job. It is a shared responsibility between employees, employers and their supervisors in dealing with hazards in the workplace. In British Columbia, WorkSafeBC is the provincial organization that promotes workplace health and safety for workers and employers, provides a process to address work related incidents and incident outcomes, education and regulation of workplace safety. A part of its duties is mandating workers’ use of personal protective equipment to protect them from general and specific hazards in the workplace, and workers outfitted with the correct attire and personal protective equipment and educated in optimal performance of physical labour actions to reduce the risk of personal, co-worker and bystander injury.
