Created for post-secondary teachers in Manitoba, this training aims to enhance the understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the post-secondary teaching context and provide strategies and teaching techniques for advancing EDI in teaching and learning.
Module 2: Understanding Social Identities Among Faculty and Students by Kristen A. Hardy
How do social identities shape teaching and learning in post-secondary education? This short, self-paced resource is designed for instructors and staff who want to deepen their understanding of identity, inclusion, and belonging in the classroom. Through real-world examples, reflection activities, and practical strategies, you’ll explore how aspects of identity – such as race, disability, gender, class, and more – intersect with educational experiences. Whether you’re new to these concepts or looking to expand your inclusive teaching toolkit, this guide offers thoughtful insights to support more equitable learning environments.
Module 3: Exploring Power Dynamics in Post-Secondary Institutions by Eric Sagenes (coming soon)
This resource is designed for post-secondary faculty and staff in Manitoba, with the goal of deepening understanding of power, privilege, and oppression within the post-secondary environment. It offers practical strategies and inclusive teaching techniques to support equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in teaching and learning.
Module 4: Decolonization, Indigenization and Reconciliation by Nora Sobel and Susie McPherson Derendy (coming soon)
This resource was developed for post-secondary faculty and academic staff in Manitoba to support learning and reflection around the impact of colonial systems in higher education. It explores both historical and ongoing systems of oppression, and offers practical strategies for advancing decolonization, Indigenization, and reconciliation in teaching and learning.
Module 5: Being and Becoming an Ally in Post-Secondary by Gera Villagran and Jennifer Montebruno (in development)
This resource offers a practical and reflective exploration of allyship. Learners will examine what it means to be an ally, the personal work required to grow into the role, and the behaviours and traits that support effective allyship. Designed to support both personal and professional growth, the resource provides reflection prompts, real-world considerations, and guidance to help readers demonstrate allyship in their classrooms and daily interactions. It also offers strategies for recognizing and responding to moments where allyship is needed and includes ongoing support for learners committed to deepening their understanding and practice.

Each book in the series can be used independently or as part of a coordinated learning experience. All books are openly licensed and freely available to download, adapt, and share.
